The food is reliable and prices are a bit cheaper than other top spots. 9 months ago on Yelp Request content removal. HONESTLY this is the biggest urban myth about NYC and its food scene. With the iconic huge red banquet hall, Jing Fong may claim the title of THE classic NYC dim sum spot. With the iconic huge red banquet hall, Jing Fong may claim the title of THE classic NYC dim sum spot. It was certainly an experience, and the enormous banquet hall that serves as Jing Fong's location is very impressive but we left dissatisfied, hungry and bemused as to why so many guide books had recommended it. The food is lukewarm and at times, stone cold as it is ferried around on trollies from table to table and the waiters are very keen to fob you off with the remaining dishes so they can load up those trollies for another round! Tap water was not free as it is in any other New York restaurant we visited. Servers wheeling their carts stacked high with bamboo or metal. We were fully open to experiencing authentic Chinese food but we did not know what the dishes were, what was them in and none of the servers could help! the system is complete chaos. If youve traveled to New York City and dined at Jing Fong in Chinatown, youve witnessed its massive operation in a banquet hall. The service I found pretty unhelpful and brusque. As the pandemic gripped the city, Jing Fong closed its banquet hall for six months when indoor dining was banned and later reopened at 25 percent capacity. Whilst reading the comments from other users about this establishment I was genuinely shocked! I do not know if the reviewers are living on another planet or have eaten at another restaurant, because the food here was truly terrible! A large queue outside and plenty of customers did not actually ensure that the dining experience was in shape, or form memorable.
